Historic door upgrading involves enhancing existing thin flat panel doors to achieve 30 minutes of fire integrity, in line with current fire safety standards. They accomplish this using the Envirograf Intumescent Card or Fire-Resistant Paint System. Both methods improve the fire performance of older or less robust door constructions without compromising their aesthetic or historic value.
As part of the upgrade, they fit all new ironmongery—including hinges, locks, and handles—should be fitted with intumescent backing materials to maintain fire resistance at junction points. Additionally, they also install fire and smoke seals around the door edges in accordance with relevant Technical Guidance documentation.
