The work consists of fire stopping between the underside of the roofing felt and the top of the existing blockwork party walls. The 5nr roof spaces internally are going to be upgraded using Envirograf Product 129 – Internal roof fire break. Designed to inhibit the spread of fire and smoke from one roof space to another. The product is fitted by two fitters both working from inside the roof space following the sequence set out below. The fire barrier is fitted between the rafter and the face of the party block wall. The Intumescent sponge is placed under the roof felt and between the battens along the line of the roof.

Party Wall Upgrade – FLAMMA Ltd Installation

It’s important that any gap between the party wall and underside of the roofing felt is properly fire-stopped prior to the application of the fire barrier using properly tested and certified products.

The party wall has been fire-stopped, and so has the gap between the underside of the slates and the top of the counter-battens. This was done by using the proprietary system products. The intumescent adhesive has been applied and the barrier fixed in place prior to the final installation of the metal fixing battens along the inside of each joist.

Furthermore, external application of Envirograf system to the eaves is done in line with the internally fitted sponge. By sealing the party wall above and below the felt, and at eaves level preventing the passage of flames and smoke throughout the roof-spaces.
