Fire stopping pipe penetrations
  • FIRE STOPPING PIPE PENETRATIONS

In a wide variety of building infrastructure the severity of pipe and plumbing penetrations between compartment floors, ceilings and walls has been largely overlooked. These exposed openings are an ease for exploitation for fire to travel throughout the core structure of a building. This can lead to immense damage not only to the buildings infrastructure but more importantly to the people within it. In many cases these openings extend to the buildings exterior which can invite gusts of air to fuel a fire in its combustion. Hence making the prevention of fires in these environments extremely difficult to control and combat.

    How can we help?

Our on-site operatives are highly skilled in analysing and protecting pipe penetrations through buildings to the most minute detail. This is done in order to provide a specific level of integrity depending on the substrate needing protection. They are precise with their work ensuring each fitting has been completed to the exact detail, as each detail can differ depending on many different factors. Such as:

    • The substrate being penetrated.
    • The integrity and insulation required.
    • Size of opening.
    • Shape of opening.
    • Pipe material and many more factors to consider.

    Our Standards

Taking into consideration all of these factors our team has been able to produce high quality work for high quality projects. At Flamma Ltd we pride ourselves on exposing the lack of knowledge surrounding the fire protection field. In doing so we ensure our standards are set high and maintained by our staff. Some of these standards are verbal and some of these standards are more physical, like the actual application of passive fire protection products. For example, when using the Envirograf® Intumescent collars, we have to make sure the collar fits the external pipe diameter. Also the providing fixing points have to be accessed for fixing into the substrate. We then fix the intumescent collar into position using the required screws to substrate. After this we progress to filling the opening from the pipe to the collar with Envirograf® Intumescent sponge, pointing the edges which meet the pipe and the collar with Envirograf® intumescent acrylic mastic. We ensure that all materials used are from the same brand for full re-assurance on the application of the product.
